Last Year’s Girl started off their new year by interviewing hairy Highlander…sorry, hilarious Highlander Jason from Cuddly Shark.
Hmm, we think the hangover hadn’t yet kicked in (for either party).

A nice write up for ‘Winter Sun’ by Fatea Records.
"I get the feeling that I shall be playing this album rather often in the coming months”

Hooray for BBC6 Music, only the other day Lauren Laverne was rambling on about having a "noisy/good time" with Galoshins.
Now the band has pricked the ears of the awesome Stuart Maconie, who gave ‘B2’ from EP1 a spin on his Freak Zone last night, followed by some tasty Faust to boot.
You can Listen again for the next 7 days. Galoshins are two songs in.
The fine folks at Shout4Music are smitten with Galoshins and rightfully so!
"There are sound combinations even a music reviewer wouldn’t have thought they existed. For example, take the hard-core punk fierceness of the Dead Kennedys, cross it with the pure, uncontrolled spirit of The Doors’ live performances, add a touch of Franz Ferdinand and a pinch of Beck’s freakiness, and out comes what could be regarded as the basic sound of the mighty Galoshins from Gourock, Inverclyde."
The Road To Ugly reviewed by The Scotsman.
"BANISH the winter blues with these Glasgow-based purveyors of instinctive, angst-free thrashy pop."
A lovely spiel from the good people at Unplug The Jukebox about the merits of Armellodie. Ahh nice.
Galoshins are ones to watch on Wow247…
"When he’s not pounding away on the organ, Mark Macphail is the perfect frontman, his frenzied vocals pitching him somewhere between The Hives’ Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist and The Fall’s Mark E. Smith. James Eyland’s guitar lines, meanwhile, alternate between choppy post-punk riffs and off-piste, free-willed exploration – although never straying too far from the coiled rhythms provided by drummer Ruraidh MacLeod and “unofficial fourth member and studio guru” Iain Macduff."

Scott popped up on Bethan Elfyn’s show to chat about Armellodie Records because…well for some reason Bethan’s producer seemed more interested in Armellodie than Scott’s extensive collection of Warhammer figurines.
Her loss is your gain! Listen again to the feature.
Cracking review of The Furious Sound by Right Where You Are Sitting Now.
"…if you can imagine Animal Collective collaborating with the Smiths, whilst living off the land in the middle of fucking nowhere then that would give you a vague idea of what this sounds like."

"…the accomplished rock chops that lurk beneath the quirk, its dynamic riffage confirming the seriousness of Cuddly Shark’s abilities."

An honest review from the good peeps at Rave Child, with a Pixies reference and a Frank Black circa-Teenager of the Year reference. It’s almost like they’re actually in Jason’s head!

ZX-spectrum lovin’ ‘Devil In Us’ video by GALOSHINS. Taken from EP2 released on Monday 4th February 2013. Pre-Order on CD here.
Armellodie Records is proud to introduce Scotland’s Galoshins with not one, but two brain-popping EPs for your aural pleasure.
Recorded as separate entities in July 2011 and April 2012, EP1 and EP2 complement each other, whilst documenting the band’s many muso-tentacles.
Moving from wonderfully jarring dischordia to sublime poppiness - sometimes in the same song - Macphail’s whirring organ and stream of lyrical musings pepper the EPs like slippery eels, just eluding you but leaving traces of goo in your ears.
Whether he’s demonstrating the art of manliness as on ‘The 4th Chord’ (“What you been saying about ma burd!?”), or inquisitively attempting to re-assure the listener as on ‘Mink’ (“It seems to me like we’re having a good time?”), there’s an off-beat charm to Macphail’s often undistinguishable shriek.
With Eyland’s spiky guitars and MacLeod’s bombastic drum-flurries, Galoshins can be a feral proposition. Yet no matter how frenzied or hectic things appear, each and every song is besieged with hooks so that even the most casual listener can keep swinging.
With the promise of further EPs throughout the year, this could be the start of a beautiful relationship, and there’s always room for a new favourite band.
The band launch the EPs with a special show at Glasgow’s Nice N Sleazys on Friday 8th February. Also on the bill, the delightful Furhood, Paddy Steer and a special guest to be confirmed. Keep your eyes peeled on the Facebook Event for further updates.
You can get your mits on both EPs HERE, Pre-order on CD (Digipack) now or digital download from February 4th.

More fresh blood for 2013. Ladies and gentlemen, Galoshins.

Surely the finest trio of grizzly-cheeked rockers ever to roll their amps out of Gourock, Inverclyde. Mark Macphail (vocal/keys), James Eyland (vocals/guitar) and Ruraidh MacLeod (drums) are the impenetrable, Galoshins.
Together with Iain Macduff - unofficial fourth member and studio guru – the band has been following their own esoteric and single-minded path since their formation in 2009.
With their furiously buoyant whirlwind of psych, prog, freakbeat, aggro-pop, whatever-it-is, the band originally come to the attention of Armellodie Records in 2010 and were invited to perform at the label’s own ‘Barmellodie’ monthly residency club night in Glasgow, and so the ball was set in motion…
Galoshins are set to release not one, but two brain-popping EPs for your aural pleasure at the beginning of next month so watch this space!
Fresh blood for the new year, Armellodie Records are proud to welcome Saint Max and the Fanatics to the fold…
An adolescence spent in the depths of the South West Scottish countryside has left this particular prophet with countless songbooks bulging with wry observation, uncommon passion and pop melodies which refuse to be shaken off. The sound is undeniably contemporary, with sprinklings of artful nostalgia.
2012 saw this wandering poet’s dramatic entrance to the scene - and to the ears of Armellodie - with the release of his debut EP Saint Max and the Fanatics, recorded at Glasgow’s all-analogue Green Door Studio.
Harking back to luminaries as varied as Bowie, Madness and Morrissey, Saint Max’s sound is born to an eclectic family of influences. It is bound together, however, by a razor sharp delivery which simply cannot be ignored. We’re awfa chuffed to have him onboard and look forward to his debut album later in the year.
For now though, be sure to catch up on the self-released EP…
Props from the folks at Vanguard-Online for The Road To Ugly…
" In short – we have twelve cracking tracks cramming into a blistering 30 minutes of frenzied punk melodies. What’s not to like?"

Lovely tip of the hat to Cuddly Shark's 'Body Mass Index' from the awesome GoldFlakePaint.
"Glaswegian trio Cuddly Shark are another braw addition to the Armellodie roster, first appearing in 2009 with their pleasingly pissed self-titled debut which offered all the hooks and none of the bait. So wahey, they’re finally set to unleash a new LP by the name of ‘The Road To Ugly’ and our first taster of this is “Body Mass Index” which has a hook that I literally cannot believe (please listen to it, I honestly don’t have the words, just trust me) and is probably a lot more FUN than the last thing you bought/felt justified in illegally downloading because “labels need to learn to evolve!!!!!”
